Television department
Winston Churchill once said: “He who controls information controls the world.” And nowadays, information is primarily owned by journalists. You need to be able to get to the bottom of it, to highlight the main points, to constantly analyze. After all, it is so important to present the material correctly and accurately, without missing anything! But the art of television is not only about journalism. There is also cinema. Each movie carries certain information that needs to be brought to life competently and beautifully. This is what we are taught at the television department.
It’s easy to come up with, shoot and edit a program, conduct an interview or work on camera and not get confused… It’s easy! We learn all this in journalism and editing classes!
We can also easily become TV and radio hosts, mastering speech and oratory techniques. We even have practice in a real professional recording studio! And stage movement and acting teach us to expand our physical and creative capabilities, develop the ability to easily switch from one task to another.
It is not a problem for us to come up with an original angle, to make a photo report or an author’s photo shoot! After all, learning to see and convey the beauty of the world through the “eye” of a video or photo camera is a pleasure!
But the most surprising thing is that we are also trying our hand at directing real short fiction and documentary films. But the desire is not enough. You need to know the basics of screenwriting and directing, staging, composition and editing. In the studio, we learn to convey our ideas with the help of visual images and scenario twists. And who knows, maybe in the future one of us will win the coveted Oscar.
To make such a movie, we need to have an artistic taste, to understand art, to understand all the richness and diversity of its forms. This is what we learn in the History of Art and History of Cinema classes.
